You wonder where their perservance came from, where their inspiration came from. At the same time, it's also agonizing to know that at the other part of the world, there are still people staying put; people who prefer status quo despite their attempts trying to show the world they want to change for the better. How contradicting can humans get...
It is necessary for one to realize that you don't exist alone and that whatever happens in your life affects people around you, be it direct or indirect.
Denial is just an act of escapism.
Though it may be useful at times.
However, when the reality is too harsh, this is not appropriate.
There are always obligations one has to fulfil.

This is the 2nd time going for 21st birthday at macs. It's caijun 21st birthday. Part of my db team and joanne came. I guessed caijun enjoyed her birthday party very much. She was so spontaneous and enthusiastic during the whole party. Felt young all over again, being addressed as "boys and girls" when most of my team mates are in their mid or late 20's. King albert park's party is better than the previous one i went. But i guess it will only be fun when everyone gets involved in the games.

i got sunburnt from the one-star kayaking course last weekend
and now i am peeling...

there seemed to be so many things to be done...

Yesterday was my first time doing the job yongtang recomend me..
first time doing a job dealing with kids..

The most significant thing that happened to me is "Being part of my dragonboat team!!"
I guess it's one right choice I have made out of the many.
I remembered I used to dread going for trainings on weekends because of the land drills (running esp), every weekend that passed juz made me feel relieved. Every trainings that I went I wished that rain will come and trainings will be cut short. I guess at that time, these feelings developed as the team wasn't that bonded yet.

However, as we neared the race, things turned out very differently. People started coming for more trainings, weekends became the days which I look forward to (during weekends), morale getting higher and team became more bonded. Team mates started to do things for the team instead of for self-interest. I love this sport since the time I first joined it with my first team. Loving a sport and being committed to it is a separate issue I guess. You may love the sport but if the team you are in doesn't let you feel the sense of belonging, it's hard to stay though despite the love for the sport. I believed I have found the right team now and I will do everything to bring it to the peak. I will try to make my team be in the limelight soon.

Haven't been updating my blog for quite some time I guess many ppl are missing me yah? lolz
I was juz lazy... Too many events took place, had so much to write so decided not to blog..
I guess it's a wrong choice...

Anyway, I went for a race for the Singapore Dragonboat Festival 2006 at bedok reservoir. The event ground was so grand for the 1st time. There was a bazaar and many participating teams hanging around at bedok as early as 7.30am in the morning on the 1st July. My team's first event started around 10.20am. It's the national open championship mixed 20men event. Competitors were strong: safra, canadian, NUS alumni, ITE, singapore paddle club and british chamber of commerce. First day of race, all excited n hype up. everything was smooth, competition was strong. Was in the 4th initially but overtook 2 boats at the last 200m or so during charging and came in 2nd. Cool~ So, off we go... into the semi finals.

For the womens race, competitors were too strong, we came in 4th. Nevertheless, we won't be discouraged. My team will train harder for greater achievements for river regetta race in Nov 2006.

The 2-day event at bedok was a great experience. My team became more bonded and will now hold on together to work towards our same goal. Also, we had a fun time hanging out with smu db team too. Watching the races, 'shopping' at the bazaar, doing land drills, having fun, it juz feel so nice though the weather was hot but it's the right weather for the event.

As for the 2nd July, there of cos were fewer teams cos only those who made it to the semis will be there for the race. 2nd day... everyone was aching already. Haven't recover from the 1st day race, the body have not recharge yet. So performance wasn't at the peak. However so, we all did our best though we didn't get into the grand finals.

Finally i see results.
Efforts paid off.
Had frienddly race with a few 20 men boat today.
Of which only our boat and another one is a mixed boat.
The rest of the boats comprises of 20 men (one of them is TP men and another one is SAFRA).
20 men!
our boat, mixed boat, with 10 men 10 women.
though it's a friendly race, I can see all the boats are giving their best.
We start off with them from the same starting line.
Normally, if the team is seemed to be weaker than another, the stronger boat will start off a few boat length behind.
We did 3 sets of races.
We fight n charge on and held on so tightly to our positions.
Was on par with the 2 20 men boat when we crossed the finishing line (1km)
Did 3 sets and this is the 1st time we experienced this kinda thing. lolz...
This is also the 1st time in passc history this happens!
10 men 10 womens (20 men boat) winnning a 20 men boat (safra and tp men)
This is really a confidence booster for our team.
We will continue to strive on to win the upcoming race.

I'm glad I din go for any internship. I had that tot that the holidays are too short and I need the time to rest. Indeed, it's true. The hoidays are really short and school's starting soon. Yet, I seemed to have many endless things undone. Time is always not enough and too short hur.
Cycling along the track at east coast park today makes me reminisce abt the the past times I had with my frens there. It has been a long time since we go to that place. I guess it juz makes u realised that time passed quickly and that growing up is mandatory and in the meantime accumulating more problems in ur life hur.
Sometimes it juz feels nice to sit ard doing nth, playing cards, chatting and wasting ur life away.
It juz makes you feel that time seemed to have stopped at that point in ur life.

Kallang passc seemed to be my second home now.
I feel so comforted to be there.
The attachment to the place and to the team is juz becoming greater.
love my team so much. I can see more efforts from everyone in the team and the drive and desire to win is juz overwhelming.
We had a few friendly races with some teams and it's juz fun to race with them.
The race is coming. Hope we will get in the grand finals. Last year june race, passc performed quite well. So, juz hope that we will achieve the same results.
Juz hope that this high morale will lead us some where in the race.
I'm quite positive abt it.

Been staying at home the past few days slacking and sleeping
Sad to know that I'm doing this when ppl are out there shopping, taking adv of the great singapore sale (cos no $$ & no kaki)

after 3 days working at the IT fair ar suntec..
i finally came home not too late and not too tired for me to blog..

Been so busy, no time to blog.
This week's training was fun. Both at kallang and at bedok.
can't believe the differences compared to last week's.
though i was sick, i went for the trg. went late so end up doing juz one set of 'lao shi's' trg.
Nice sight at kallang on sat esp when u see other team trg too... u will feel motivated.
though low tide but the currents were strong. Had a few races with the guys boat.
lolz... won them all... high morale for the gals boats on sat...
however, I was only able to do one set of the sea trg...
abominal pains came back and i felt nauseous, so i took a rest.
got a chance to talk to 'lao shi' and also learnt how to look at spot ppl's mistake.
lolz..fun time yea...

28th May
LS in the morning b4 gg for trg....
haiz.. sad.. dad fetch me n jun to bedok. din run.
row a few sets...
with i think improved performance and better timing.. 2.01, 1.58 etc... compared to last week's 3.59 etc... for 500m... we change tactic... using shorter strokes now.. cos bedok reservoir water is very still thus heavy. So if we continue using long pull, when recovering the boat will sink and will be slowed down. With this new strokes, the boat did surge forward faster. GREAT!~ love the trg this week... lol.. though i still dun feel well...
rain halfway thru the trg... heavy rain..
so have to end trg early.. was dripping and soak when we went home.. freezing in the bus and train...
reached bb le, still walked in the rain home... lolz.. crazy me..

went to jing jing's house cos she juz moved to my condo... lol..

shortly after tt, went home for porridge (dinner).

Anyway.... i bought a shorts ytd from forever 21... hmmm.... din expect myself buying a shorts for $48.. i guess it's because i haven't been spending money lately ba..

After 3 weeks for not going training, i felt slackened. Went for training ytd at kallang and tried the training that lao shi set for us. Did sets of 10 push-ups, 10 dorsal raise and 10 crunches

4 sets --> run 1 km --> 4 sets --> run 1 km --> 3 sets --> run 1 km
thought these had no impact on me. lolz... but after the row though i left after half session, i felt so achy. Left after half session, went for dinner with joanne and frens to celebrate her 21st birthday. Spent 1 hr plus waiting for dian xiao er at marina. didn't eat for the whole day and i could actually wait for so long juz to eat my 1st meal of the day (dinner).

woke up early in the morning to find myself aching so much. arms felt detached and there are obvious blueblack on my hipbone and on my arm. Every week I'll get blublacks on my hip. Why can't the boat be cushioned? A thought of skipping training on sunday struck my mind but i still went for trg in the end. And luckily we didn't run 4.3km. But due to sat trg, everyone was feeling weak and couldn't really perform on sunday. Had a friendly race with TP. OMG!! they are gd!!~ 8 men boat lost to a 10 gals boat by one boat length and the our 8 gals boat lost to their 10 gals boat by 4 boats length. This is so humiliating. But i guess it can't be helped. We are quite new to the sport hur. Dragonboat is a injury prone sport. lolz
